Description
Mild steel refers to steel with a low carbon content. It is weldable, hard and while it can rust easily it is still very durable. Mild steel can be magnetised and is used in nearly all projects that require large amounts of metal.
This type of steel is easily welded. The properties of the steel allow the electrical current to travel through the metal without altering the composition of the material. Mild steel can flex and give in projects where a higher-carbon version could break.
Its typical applications include automobile chassis, motorcycle frames, cookware, domestic goods, construction, furniture and signs.
